Amanaki is Father's Dream Come True

Amanaki Hotel is a family-oriented hotel that started as a piece of land bought by Kim and Beverly Levi years ago, as a place where they wanted to create something special.  Six years after Kim’s passing the family have achieved Amanaki Hotel.

“Amanaki actually means ‘hope’ or ‘good expectations’ in Tokelauan” says daughter Lynelle Betham.  “We wanted to pay tribute to our father including his (and our) Tokelaun heritage – and of course we wanted this hotel to meet and exceed visitor expectations.”

“This includes providing superior level accommodation at reasonable prices.”

The hotel layout was designed by younger brother Fata Levi, whose seaward design means all guests have a harbour view no matter what room they are in.  He says it’s important if they are a Beach Road hotel to actually have a view.  “It’s something we take for granted but all part of the experience for overseas guests,” he says

Amanaki Hotel has 21 spacious rooms decorated in the chocolate, cream and sea-blue hues, with artwork by Pacific artist P. Rasmussen-Dover and furniture crafted by local designer and carpenter John Neweinhousein from Faatoia.

Lynelle, who also designed the oasis shaped pool says it was important to create rooms that felt inspired by their natural surroundings and created by some of Samoa’s best.  She adds that her mum even developed the garden to be a “tropical explosion of local plants” that guests might be interested to know more about.

The Levi’s, well known in Samoa for their fishing ventures, have built the hotel restaurant Amanaki Restaurant at the front of the hotel to capture harbour lights at night.  The restaurant will serve the freshest of fish as well as local cuisine.

“But the prices will be kept reasonable as we have our own fishing boats – locals and visitors can even get fish and chip takeaways at great prices,” says Beverly.

“We know our Dad would have been proud of us,” says Lynelle. “And we know this is exactly the way he would have wanted it.”
